dezeen
Our most popular and most controversial story this week featured a redesign of the London tube map that’s more geographically accurate than the 1931 classic – read both sides of the argument and have your say here. Other interesting debates this week focused on the Japanese trend for cladding interiors in plywood and whether a monochrome concrete ice cream parlour can be sophisticated or just cold and brutal. In the wake of the riots that broke out across the UK last weekend, a group of architecture graduates launched an initiative called Riot Rebuild to help repair homes and businesses that were damaged. In cheerier news, Ron Arad’s curtain call exhibition opened at London’s Roundhouse and Zaha Hadid released spectacular new photos of her Aquatics Centre for next year’s Olympics. Over on Dezeen Screen we’ve got a new series of movies we filmed about garden design. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates and discussions throughout the week.
