dezeen Posted January 13, 2012 Report Share Posted January 13, 2012 This week a boat-shaped apartment washed up on the roof of the Southbank Centre in London, dRMM completed a shimmering golden wedding chapel in the British seaside town of Blackpool and we showed images of Renzo Piano’s new wing at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Our most popular stories featured a precariously cantilevered museum in the Alps and a playground pavilion in Copenhagen with funhouse mirrors covering its gabled ends. Meanwhile fuseproject unveiled a tablet version of their One Laptop Per Child project, Nendo previewed the new work they’ll show during Maison & Objet in Paris next week and Konstantin Grcic unveiled his new school chair to be launched in Cologne, receiving harsh criticism from our readers. Tokujin Yoshioka was announced as Creator of the Year at Maison & Objet and Studio Job were forced to alter plans for a Holocaust-themed fence. The Design Museum in London unveiled the 90-strong shortlist for this year’s Design of the Year award, including a device for clearing land mines, a machine that uses desert sand to print glass and a cinema under a motorway.
